Cost of emergency in-patient/ out-patient hospital while outside of Canada
Hospital services must be provided in an active-treatment general or auxiliary hospital;
Maximum amount for hospital in-patient care provided outside Canada - $100 (CDN) per day, not including the day of discharge;
Maximum amount for routine hospital outpatient services - $50 per visit with a limit of one visit per day;
In-patient and out-patient hospital rates are all-inclusive;
Out-of-country physician and dental surgeon services payable at the rate an Alberta practitioner would receive the amount billed.
Emergency in-patient services for standard ward care paid to a prescribed maximum per day for adults and newborns or out-patient services;
Unexpected medical services received anywhere in the world, provided the services are medically required, rendered by a lisenced physician and normally insured by MSP;
Reimbursement is made in Canadian funds and does not exceed the amount payable had the same services been performed in B.C.;
MSP does not cover services of health care providers other than physicians;
Not covered for Pharmacare;
Required to pay for medical services outside Canada (and in some instances outside B.C., ie. in Quebec) and seek reimbursement from MSP;
Patient responsible for any additional costs.
Emergency doctors’ services outside of Canada at a rate equal to what a Manitoba doctor would receive for a similar service.
Emergency hospital care paid on an average daily rate established by Manitoba Health.
Patient responsible for the difference above the covered amount.
Hospital out-patient or emergency department coverage is limited to a maximum of $100 CDN per visit.
Emergency out-of-country physician and hospital services or services for which prior approval has been received.
Services related to a pre-existing condition which requires ongoing monitoring are not covered.
Payment at $50 a day for out-patient emergency services, and
$100 a day for in-patient services resulting from an emergency admission;
Above amounts include most laboratory, radiological or interpretation fees billed separately from the hospital claim.
Out-of-country emergency physicians' fees paid in Canadian funds at New Brunswick rates.
Insured hospital services paid at rates established by the provincial plan.
Services must be provided by a recognized facility (licensed or approved by the appropriate authority within the state or country in which the facility is located) outside Canada.
Newfoundland Hospital Insurance Plan pays the following Insured Inpatient Hospital Rates:
  • A maximum of $350 per day in a community or regional hospital
  • A maximum of $465 per day in a tertiary or specialized hospital
  • Out-patient Hospital Rates maximum of $62 per day
  • Haemodialysis maximum of $220 per day
With certain exceptions, claims for insured out-patient medical services obtained outside Canada are paid at MCP rates, which are the rates paid to Newfoundland and Labrador physicians.
Patient responsible for additional costs.
Medically necessary physician and hospital services provided by licensed physicians outside Canada, with limitations;
Medically necessary services received outside Canada are reimbursed at NWT rates;
May be required to pay for the full cost of out-patient services received up front;
Patient responsible for any additional costs.
Emergency services obtained outside Canada;
Physician services paid at Nova Scotia rates;
For hospital coverage outside Canada, payment made at the average ward accommodation rate of the Halifax/Dartmouth hospitals in effect at the time that the services were received;
Emergency in-patient services paid at established rates (currently $525 per day plus 50% of ancillary fees);
Not covered for Out-patient services received outside Canada.
Medically necessary services received outside Canada;
Reimbursed at up to $1269 per night for in-patient hospital services;
Medically necessary out-patient services received outside Canada reimbursed at $153.
Emergency health services only;
If emergency care received, payments made at OHIP rates;
OHIP covers services only when provided in hospitals or appropriately licensed health facilities;
Emergency in-patient hospital services eligible for OHIP coverage paid up to a maximum of $200 per day for regular care or a maximum of $400 per day for complex care.
Emergency out-of-country out-patient services, with the exception of dialysis, paid to a maximum of $50 for all out-patient services provided on any one day. Out-of-country dialysis treatment paid at $210 per day.
Emergency health services;
Payment at PEI rates in Canadian currency.
Emergency hospital services as a result of a sudden illness or an accident;
Payment for services at Quebec rates;
Physician services outside Canada;
Maximum $100 (CDN) per day of hospitalization, including day surgery.
Cost of drugs purchased outside Canada is not insured, even if they were prescribed by a physician;
Treatment at a hospital out-patient clinic or emergency ward without being hospitalized, maximum of $50 (CDN) per day, including diagnostic services.
Emergency Hospital Services - Limited coverage for emergency medical care from approved general hospitals outside Canada if the same services would be covered in Saskatchewan. Payment up to $100 per day for inpatient services; Payment up to $50 for an outpatient hospital visit;
   
Medically necessary emergency health services;
limitations on coverage may apply;
physician and/or hospital fees are reimbursed at Yukon rates.
