Emergency in-patient services paid to a prescribed maximum per day for adults and newborns;
Unexpected medical services received anywhere in the world, provided the services are medically required, rendered by a licensed physician and normally insured by MSP;
Reimbursement is made in Canadian funds and does not exceed the amount payable had the same services been performed in B.C.;
MSP does not cover services of health care providers other than physicians;
Not covered for Pharmacare;
May be required to pay for out-patient medical services and seek reimbursement from MSP;
Patient responsible for any additional costs.

- Surgery, including anaesthetic services and surgical assistance where necessary
- Obstetrical care, including prenatal and postnatal care

- Certain medically required oral surgery procedures performed by an oral surgeon when performed in a hospital
- Sterilization procedures, both female and male
- Treatment of fractures and dislocations
- Certain insured specialist services, when properly referred by an attending physician

- Visits and examinations;
- Consultations
- Psychiatric treatment
- Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Surgery; radiology; anesthesia
- Most laboratory services
- Certain highly specialized examinations such as ultrasounds, CAT scans and magnetic resonance imaging, when performed in hospital centres

- Physician services in their office, clinic, at the hospital, scene of accident or in the patient's home
- Care and treatment by a physician before, during and after an operation including anesthesia
- Physicians care during pregnancy
- Certain dental-surgical procedures that have to be performed in an approved hospital
